Abstract
In toponymy, numerous place names are derived from anthroponyms. Most are male anthroponyms. This is explained by the fact that for a long time, men have been the focus of family life and society. Only in the absence of man (duet o death, military service, etc., for long periods of absence, in general), or when he entered, through marriage, in the wife’s family, the whole family yielded to woman’s name.
In this article, we intend to analyze the extent and form in which the female anthroponyms are now encountered in Oltenia and Muntenia.
