Abstract
The present paper aims to highlight the figures of successful entrepreneurs from the past of the capital of Bănia and the flourishing businesses they developed at the turn of the two centuries, some of which lasted and prospered even after the passing-away of their owners, due to the involvement of their descendants. In this regard, we mention names such as Toma Marocneanu and C. Gârleșteanu.
The field in which they worked range was from constructions.
The wise manner in which they ran their businesses, made them famous not only locally, but even nationally, competing with important companies in the country.
Thoma Marocneanu was not only an entrepreneur, but also a well-known lawyer from Craiova.
